چکیده

In this paper we consider the problem of finding subconcepts of a known concept (reference concept) in a given ontology in the light of new knowledge coming from a data source. These subconcepts are discovered by looking for frequent association patterns between the reference concept and other concepts also occurring in the existing ontology. As an illustration, we report preliminary results obtained from the refinement of an ALC ontology with respect to DATALOG data extracted from the on-line CIA World Fact Book.

Centralized Clustering Method To Increase Accuracy In Ontology Matching Systems

Ontology is the main infrastructure of the Semantic Web which provides facilities for integration, searching and sharing of information on the web. Development of ontologies as the basis of semantic web and their heterogeneities have led to the existence of ontology matching. By emerging large-scale ontologies in real domain, the ontology matching systems faced with some problem like memory con...

Refining Ontologies by Pattern-Based Completion

Constructing richly axiomatized ontologies for real-world knowledge-intensive applications is a time-consuming and difficult task. For this reason, the future relevance of ontologies in practice depends on the availability of advanced semi-automatic methods for ontology learning and refinement. In this paper we propose a method to enrich ontologies with complex axiomatic information by completi...

Refining membership degrees obtained from fuzzy C-means by re-fuzzification

Fuzzy C-mean (FCM) is the most well-known and widely-used fuzzy clustering algorithm. However, one of the weaknesses of the FCM is the way it assigns membership degrees to data which is based on the distance to the cluster centers. Unfortunately, the membership degrees are determined without considering the shape and density of the clusters. In this paper, we propose an algorithm which takes th...

بررسی هستان شناسی های توسعه یافته مبتنی بر اصول هستان شناسی های منبع باز زیست پزشکی

Background and Aim: Ontologies facilitate data integration, exchange, searching and querying. Open Biomedical Ontologies (OBO) Foundry is a solution for creating reference ontologies. In this foundry, the design of ontologies is based on established principles which allow for their interactions as a single system. The purpose of this study is to determine the main features of ontologies develop...

Refining multiple ontologies: A mappings-based approach

In a distributed environment like Semantic Web, complex applications often need to handle multiple ontologies, where the heterogeneity of multiple ontologies arises. In order to reconcile these ontologies, ontology mappings are proposed to provide the interoperating rules between multiple ontologies. However, introducing mappings may cause inconsistencies and redundancies, which will break the ...
